Gun Barrel City does not have a property tax!  This makes a great difference when comparing us to other cities in Texas.

The State of Texas provides many tax advantages. Texas does not have an Individual or Corporate Income Tax. The current tax climate in Texas can be researched at the Tax Foundation

Understanding state and local tax laws and requirements can be made easier through the assistance of the Texas State Comptroller. Information to the following taxes can be found there, including:

  • Franchise Tax is a privilege tax imposed on each taxable entity forms or organized in Texas or doing business in Texas.
  • Unemployment Insurance information can be found at the Texas Workforce Commission. 
  • Private employers in Texas can choose to carry workers’ compensation insurance coverage, with options explained here.
