Gun Barrel City Offers Endless Water Activities & Recreation

Gun Barrel City is ideally located an hour outside of the DFW Metroplex, which makes it easy to access one of our most treasured attractions, Cedar Creek Lake. This incredible lake is the fourth largest lake in Texas with abundant water activities and attractions. Thousands of visitors come to Gun Barrel each year to enjoy the natural wonder of Cedar Creek Lake, and appreciate its amenities, including fishing, swimming, boating, birdwatching, biking and water sports. The impressive lake is over 18 miles long and approximately two miles wide. The stunning body of water is home to three islands managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as Wildlife Management Areas. 

In addition to the lake, Gun Barrel’s parks include playgrounds, scenic walking trails, swimming areas, basketball courts, picnic shelters and fishing piers. Each park provides its own beauty and uniqueness. Tom Finley Park is located on one of the islands and offers several boat docks for easy access to the park.
